Birthday Celebration

Well . . . call me crazy, but I let my nine year old, just turned nine on Friday, have a sleep over birthday party with 5 girlfriends.  Yes, they ate pizza, cake, ice cream, candy, chips and soda, stayed up all night watching movies, played games, thanks to my husband.  Then my husband and I went to bed with pillows over our heads to block out the squeeling voices.  Then those six girls, depsite the lack of sleep, were awake and knocking at our door at 6:00 the next morning wanting their promised pancake breakfast with bacon, eggs and hash browns.  So we sleepily climbed out of bed, I the showered, and my husband to the kitchen to prepare breakfast.

After that we all got dressed and headed to the Boise Zoo.  The girls enjoyed running around and looking at all of the animals; little Katherine, I love that little girl, talked on and on about the knowledge she had about the animals and the different zoos that she had visited, she was just a little recorder of the knowledge that she had gained.  You could tell that her parents were very educationally minded.

Once we finished at the zoo, we walked back to the car, grabbed our picnic lunch and spread out a blanket at Julia Davis Park and ate leftover pizza, cold water, chips, and candy.  We played more games at the park, then headed home for some apple bobbing.  By 3:00  my husband and I were done.  we told the girls they could continue to hang out, but that they had to take it to someone elses home or go to the school play ground.  They stayed together until 6:30 that night, then we had to force Olivia in to have a shower and get ready for church the next day.

All in all, I would say it was a very successful party, all had fun, no disasters and she loved everything that she got.  I keep trying to make the parties more low key as she gets older. I am just too old for this stuff.

Well that's all I have to blog for now.  Will update you later with other family stuff.
