Precursor to Linocut Project (Test)

These plates and prints were created by carving into Matt board and/or adding materials to raise the matt board.  Anything can be glued to the matt board to give it texture.  Then the matt board is sealed with a special glue to protect it from the inking and printing process  so it can be cleaned after each use.  The matt board is inked up with a spatula then rubbed with a special cloth then run through the press with damp BFK.  I chose to do a memorial about my Brother and my dad who were both Firefighters.  They died within 6 months of each other in 2006/2007.  They shared the number 39 as they were both serving in separate fire departments at different times.  The plate has their numbers, their names, the fire departments that they served in, and other images that pertain to firefighting.
